Each week, the Morning Journal recognizes the top players in area high school sports with its Top of the Crop performers. Here are the top girls soccer players for the week of Sept.3:

Goalkeepers

  • Molly Black, Firelands: Eight saves in a 3-1 win over Oberlin
  • Trista Janda, West Geauga: 19 saves on 20 shots in a 1-1 tie against Madison

Defense

  • Hannah Anderson, Madison: Anchored a defense that allowed just four shots in a 1-1 tie against West Geauga
  • Mackenzie Keener, Firelands: Helped preserve a 3-1 win over Oberlin

Midfield

  • Jessica Finnigan, Avon: Scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win over Elyria
  • Ella Skoczen, North Ridgeville: Scored two goals in a 2-0 win over Avon Lake

Forwards

  • Emily Mickovec, West Geauga: Scored the lone goal in a 1-1 tie against Madison
  • Ella Stephenson, Keystone: Scored two goals in a 3-2 win over Wellington
